Designed with intention. Made by hand.

LYSlightlab is a Canadian lighting studio creating handmade ceramic fixtures for considered interiors. With more than 18 years of experience in design and craftsmanship, our work brings together a longstanding interest in interiors, architecture and the way light shapes a space.

We approach each fixture as both a functional object and a sculptural form, designed to bring warmth, proportion and a quiet sense of presence to its surroundings.

Our approach

Our work is rooted in modern design and influenced by the clarity and restraint of Scandinavian architecture. We are drawn to simple geometry, balanced proportions and materials that feel honest and tactile.

Muted colours, sculptural silhouettes and understated details define the collection. Rather than competing with an interior, each fixture is designed to become part of its architecture. Distinctive in form, but quiet in presence.

Made by hand

Every LYSlightlab fixture is made to order, with care given to each stage of the process. Working in ceramic allows us to combine precise, architectural forms with the subtle variation that comes from making objects by hand.

From forming and finishing the ceramic components to assembly and final inspection, each fixture passes through a hands-on process before leaving the studio.

Small variations in surface and tone are a natural part of the material and give each piece its individual character.

Material, considered

Ceramic sits at the centre of the collection for its warmth, tactility and ability to hold both strong form and subtle variation. It is paired with restrained hardware, warm brass details and a considered palette of neutral finishes.

We believe lighting should do more than illuminate a room. It can soften an interior, define a surface, create depth and change the way a space is experienced throughout the day.

Our aim is to make lighting that feels enduring, tactile and quietly integrated into the spaces it inhabits.
